What is Lift the Shame?
What: "Lift the Shame" is the first web-based support group of its kind offering support and resources to pregnant women and moms in eating disorder recovery or who are healing their relationships with food and their bodies. Topics we discuss as a group include navigating pregnancy/postpartum, maternal mental health, raising intuitive eaters, feeding children, intuitive eating and body image changes. The support group is a free, confidential online group hosted by Crystal Karges, MS, RDN, IBCLC, in partnership with Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center.
Who: This virtual support group is for moms and moms-to-be who are recovering from eating disorders or who might be needing more support around food/body image issues in their motherhood journeys.
Why: Support groups like "Lift the Shame" serve as a useful adjunct to treatment. Research has shown that support groups can be one of the most valuable experiences in the recovery process. If you are a mom in need of more support in your eating disorder recovery journey, Lift the Shame is for you, no matter what season of motherhood you may be in. Connecting with other mothers who can understand what you’re going through can help you feel more supported and less alone on your journey.
When: Lift the Shame meets online on the 4th Sunday of every month at 4pm PST/ 7pm EST. We’d love to have you join us!
Where: We meet virtually through Zoom, and you can participate through video and/or audio - whatever you’re comfortable with. When you join, you’ll receive the group log-in information for each group session.
