Help a Mama Out: May's Favorite Finds

best-products-moms

Each month I will be sharing a few of my favorite finds that are making my motherhood journey a bit easier.  Whether for personal care and growth, items I love for my kiddos and family, household products, books and more, I am excited to share my favorite monthly finds with you in hopes that this might help you too!

These are all products that I have purchased myself and use for myself or my family, and all stated opinions are my own.

I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions too, so please feel free to jump in the comments section and share what things you are loving in your motherhood journey.

Without further adieu, here are my top favorite finds for the month of May:

Little Twig, All Natural Conditioning Detangler

I know this may sound like an odd one, but hear me out.  With three girls in our house, all with a head-full of thick, curly hair, brushing out tangles was a nightmare.  I mean, all out screaming bloody murder anytime a brush so much as touched their lovely locks.  Determined to find a better way, I happily came across this little miracle in a bottle.  Seriously.

Each girl gets their locks lathered up with this conditioning detangler, and it makes brushing their hair so much easier.  If you have little ones with hair that tangles easily, I can’t recommend this enough.  Game-changer.  Plus, it’s hypoallergenic and smells something delightful.

Babyganics Mineral-Based Sunscreen

With summer right around the corner, we are already frequenting the beaches and pools.  In the past, I usually would stock up on giant bottles of generic brands of sunscreen to slather on everyone, but I’m trying to be a bit more cognizant of what we’re all putting on our skin.

I’ve used some products from the Babyganics line before and came across their mineral-based, SPF 50+ sunscreen.  Not only is this sunscreen free of many of the harmful chemicals that are usually in sunscreens, but it goes on easy and is tear free.  Now, if I could just find a way to get my kiddos to sit still while I prep them with this stuff…

Body Kindness: Transform Your Health From the Inside Out -- and Never Say Diet Again

Written by fellow Registered Dietitian Rebecca Scritchfield, this gem of a book is FULL of practical self-care tips that can guide you toward living the best version of your life while embracing body positivity.

Rebecca guides you through four main principles to help you transform your health from the inside out, touching on everything from food, meal planning, exercise, goal-setting, mind/body positivity and more. And the best part is that there is NO dieting involved!

Aztec Indian Healing Clay Deep Pore Cleansing

The first time I put this on my face, my kids looked at me like I had just transformed into the Grinch.  My mom first bought this for me as a teenager who suffered from acne, and I was excited to re-discover this simple, yet powerful facial mask.  Made from 100% natural calcium bentonite clay, this face mask is easy to whip up, and within minutes of applying, I can feel it working on my skin.

After years of pregnancy and breastfeeding, this little addition in my skin regime has helped my acne prone skin.  I also have dry skin, and this facial mask helps leave my skin feeling clean without being stripped of moisture.

Your Birthday Book: A Keepsake Journal

I’ve always wanted to be the mom that made amazing scrapbooks and journals for my kids, but alas, there is only so much I can do.  Especially with four kids, I really wanted some way to document some of their milestones, as well as a place to keep their drawings, birthday cards, keepsakes, etc.  This keepsake journal is an amazing find for any mom who wants a fun, easy way to record annual changes from ages 1 to 18.

I’ve purchased one for each of my kids, and we’ve made it our tradition to fill out their birthday page on the night before their birthday.  There are thought-provoking questions to ask your children and record their answers, as well as a time-capsule envelope for keeping your favorite memorabilia from them for that year.  It’s always fun to look back on the previous years too and see how my kids are growing and changing.  Would definitely recommend this for any busy mom looking for a priceless way to keep a treasured record of childhood.
